Somebody passed along a recipe for oatmeal with bust banana and chocolate chips.
Clearly this isn't a breakfast you can or should have each day, or even each other day -- but occasionally you need something a little corrupt first thing in the morning. And it is
still good for you, particularly if you use dark chocolate chips. Clearly , this recipe was excellent -- but it required some tinkering with. It requested a large amount of brown sugar -- and this was in addition to mashed banana and chocolate chips stirred right into the oatmeal. If the woman who's pleased to eat chocolate for breakfast is announcing that, something desires fixing. So I messed around with it and made something that did not send me into a sugar coma just when I should have been beginning my day. Here, then, is my personal version of chocolate-chip banana oatmeal. This makes sufficient for 2 folk, if those 2 folk can content themselves with one generous bowlful each.
If that isn't the case, you might wish to double it. In a medium saucepan, bring between one 0.5 and 1 three / 4 cups of water to a full boil. Let this boil, exposed, for approximately 5 mins, stirring frequently. Then switch off the heat, cover it, and let it sit for 3 mins. After the oatmeal has cooled and thickened for these few mins, mix in the mashed banana. You may either have oatmeal that is chocolaty all the way through, or banana oatmeal with a topping of chocolate chips. If you desire chocolate oatmeal, stir the chips in whilst the oatmeal is still good and hot. You can actually have to choose for yourself how much is sufficient re how many chips to use. Commence with 1 / 4 cup and see how it looks from there. Half a cup is most likely the higher limit even for a chocolate fiend. If you need chocolate chips that still hold their shape a bit, expose the banana oatmeal and let it cool a bit. Better yet, serve it out into bowls -- it'll cool quicker. When it's warm but not hot, splatter mini chocolate chips on top.
Either way, this recipe is wonderful with a little milk on top ; but if you are after antioxidant value, remember that current medical research implies that having milk with this may cancel out all antioxidant benefits. Irrespective of how you have it, do not forget to enjoy it. That is the point of breakfast, isn't it?
